An illegal English teacher is defined as:
- A teacher with an E-2 visa that teaches outside of his/her designated place of work or who does private lessons on the side;
- A person on a tourist visa or other non-teaching visa who is not permitted to teach a foreign language in Korea.
Penalties for private lessons and teaching outside of one's designated workplace:
- Deportation
- Fines
- Other Punishment, to be determined by immigration officials
